WE SAY:

Gerrard Gethings studied Fine Art painting/photography at Sheffield University and now lives and works in London. He has recently released his first self published book – Dogonomics, part of an ongoing project which will eventually lead to a catalogue of every breed. With techniques and attention to detail usually reserved for human subjects, Gerrard evokes powerful empathy with man's best friend.
THE ARTIST SAYS:

Photography is as much a trade as it is an art form. Having studied this trade for some time it is my aim to bring the highest quality portraiture to what is generally a poorly represented genre – dog photography. My own dog is Baxter, a Border Terrier and the inspiration for all of my dog work. It was studying his behaviour that led me to take my camera on walks and ultimately into the studio. I had no idea this would become an obsession. Because of this I guess all my work is dedicated to him.
